Declarations must bear the actual signature of the sender or his deputy and must show the current value of the finished articles in the open market at the time of despatch.
Restrictions1Restrictions apply to the importation of - Cultures or preparation of pathogenic micro-organisms (permits required from Ministry of Health, Lusaka); Indian hemps, unless in the form of a medical preparations; ostrich feathers, unless part of a manufactured article; plants, seeds or parts thereof (permit required from Director of Agriculture, Lusaka); preparations concerning venereal disease, unless addressed to a doctor or pharmacist; preparations for diagnosis of animal diseases require special permits.
Import LicencesImport licences are required for certain classes of goods.
InvoicesIt is recommended that invoices and certificates of origin be inserted in commercial parcels.
Packing and MarkingWaterproof covers should be used for parcels for places not on the railway especially during October to May inclusive.
Delivery

Addressees are notified of arrival of parcels and are required to arrange for their collection.

 

An SMS notification of item arrival will be sent to addressees of parcels/packages bearing valid mobile phone numbers. Senders are encouraged to furnish recipients' mobile phone numbers as this will facilitate quicker delivery.

All postal items must bear addressee's full name and complete address.

To facilitate delivery, it is also desirable to include the addressee's mobile telephone number and e-mail address, if available, on the postal items.
