Printed matter liable to Customs duty may be sent by printed papers post, provided that each packet bears a CN 22 and that a Customs declaration is made out in quadruplicate for each packet or batch of packets not exceeding 10 for same addressee. One copy of the Customs declaration must be enclosed with the printed matter, the others sent respectively to the Customs authorities at the port of entry, to the Director General of Posts Caracas, and to the "Sala de Examen de la Contaduria General de Hacienda", Caracas.

The Customs declarations should be made out in French or Spanish as well as English.
Prohibitions1Pension cheques, travellers’ cheques, credit cards, debit cards, bank-notes, currency notes, postage stamps and documents payable to bearer, coin, gold, jewellery, platinum, precious stones and silver; saccharin; all dutiable articles which, if found, are confiscated (except printed matter, see above; samples without value and which should not bear a CN 22, and sample tubes of serum having commercial value sent in the general interest by laboratories or institutions officially recognised and to which a CN 22 should be affixed). Restrictions1Restrictions apply to the importation of patent medicines; plants and parts of plants and products from plants, such as wheaten flour, except when preserved in tins or previously cooked. The following articles are subject to import licence and parcels containing them should not be despatched until the necessary licence has been obtained by the addressee: cotton-piece-goods, foodstuffs, foot-wear, white paper for printing and wool piece-goods.
Gift ParcelGifts are subject to normal Customs duties with an addition of 2 percent of the value of the parcels.
Packing
 
Parcel must be strongly packed, and those containing gold, silver, or other precious articles should bear on the cover the words "Objectos Preciosos" (precious articles) written in letters not less than 1 cm in height.
AddressAll postal items must bear the full name of addressees and complete addresses, that include the following information, to facilitate delivery:

  • Full name and surname;
  • Name of the building, street name or number, floor and apartment number, house name or number (if applicable);
  • Location, city or town, parish, municipality, state and country;
