Singapore, 8 December 2022 – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) today issued a set of illustrated stamps to commemorate the opening of the Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG).
CMSG is the first museum in Singapore dedicated to children 12 years old and below. Formerly the Singapore Philatelic Museum, the building located at Coleman Street was closed in 2020 for redevelopment into CMSG.
This new museum will encourage young visitors to explore and learn through artefacts, hands-on and immersive displays, personal stories, and role-playing, said the National Heritage Board (NHB) in a fact sheet. It will explore a range of themes including heritage, culture, and contemporary issues. CMSG will be a “starter museum” to introduce young visitors and their families to the museum-going experience, said NHB. The museum’s existing stamp collection will continue to be used alongside other artefacts to support children’s learning.
CMSG aspires to be a place of wonder and joyful learning for all children to engage with Singapore and the world. Families with young children can look forward to interactive exhibits, anchored in rich storytelling and complemented by engaging programmes and initiatives. Children will have hands-on opportunities to learn about heritage and culture through play.
The opening of the CMSG is celebrated with a set of stamps that extends the elements of fun, adventure, and exploration beyond the display zones and into the miniature world of stamps. The stamps are designed based on the concept of games and activities that are familiar to children of all ages.
