Mauritius Post has advised that the country is currently experiencing torrential rainfall that, according to the Mauritius Meteorological Service, is expected to persist. Therefore, a torrential rain warning is in place in Mauritius. The National Crisis Committee, after consultation with the Prime Minister and in line with section 16(2)(a) of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act, has decided that no-one, with the exception of authorized personnel engaged in essential and emergency services, should venture outside until further notice. This will affect the transportation and processing of inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items), resulting in delays in the delivery of mail across the country.
