Servicio Postal Mexicano has advised that following the passage of the category-five Hurricane Otis through the port of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero on 26 October, postal services have been suspended in the affected areas until further notice.
In addition, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Otis, Correos de Mexico has declared a situation of force majeure in the affected areas. Power and telephone lines are down, infrastructure has been damaged, and road access is difficult. The authorities are still assessing the damage, and the work needed to reopen roads and restore power and communications.
Deliveries of letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items are suspended in the following areas:
